Alcohol Policy

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has issued Best Wishes in a Basket a licence to deliver beer, liquor, wine, and champagne.

To be in compliance with these rules, all of our sales and delivery staff are “Smart-Serve” certified.  We will ensure that anyone who receives a gift basket from Best Wishes in a Basket is legally able to receive alcohol. Alcohol purchased should be for the personal consumption of the gift recipient and not for resale. If a gift recipient looks less than 25 years of age, we will require proof of age.  Acceptable forms of ID include: • an Ontario Driver’s Licence with photo; • a Canadian passport; • a Canadian Citizenship Card with photo; • a Canadian Armed Forces Identification Card with photo;  • an LCBO BYID photo card; • a secure Indian Status Card (Canadian);  • a Permanent Resident Card (Canadian); • a photo card issued under the Photo Card Act.

We will require a signature for all alcohol gift deliveries made certifying that the recipient received the gift and are of age to purchase/receive alcohol.  Alcohol baskets may only be delivered to a place of residence or hotel room under the AGCO provisions.

Best Wishes in a Basket will comply with all rules and regulations as set out by the AGCO relating to this Liquor Delivery Service License.

All wine, champagne, beer and liquor baskets delivered by Best Wishes in a Basket will have an additional $6 delivery charge added to the regular delivery fee.  So, for example, if the total price paid by a customer in Cobourg (local) for a custom liquor basket before tax is $100, the total price delivered is $116 + HST.  The Local Delivery Charge is $10 + $6 liquor delivery charge. The AGCO requires a minimum delivery charge on all liquor orders.

Liquor Delivery Area

We deliver alcohol to Cobourg, Port Hope, Baltimore, Harwood, Roseneath, Grafton, Colborne, Brighton, Trenton, Peterborough, Bowmanville, Oshawa, Whitby  Unfortunately we cannot ship alcohol outside of these areas as there is no way to verify the age of the recipient when it is shipped by courier.  However, an alternative to including alcohol would be Sparkling Apple Cider.  Sparkling Apple Cider is a carbonated non-alcoholic beverage made from apple cider and is a great alternative to champagne.
